DAY 3🎭

Give It a Soul

Write SOUL.md / USER.md to make it truly yours

Why Does It Need a "Soul"?

Your assistant works but feels generic — no different from any other AI chat. Because it does not know you.

Three files change everything — the Soul Trio:

FilePurposeAnalogy
SOUL.mdDefine personality and behaviorIts "DNA"
USER.mdDescribe who you areYour "profile"
AGENTS.mdSet work habits and boundariesIts "handbook"

SOUL.md Example

# Your AI Assistant

## Personality
- Efficient and pragmatic
- Friendly but concise
- Proactive but respects boundaries

## Speaking Style
- Direct, no fluff
- Bold for important info
- Keep technical terms in English

## Behavioral Rules
- If you can help, just do it — no repeated confirmations
- For uncertain matters, ask first
- External messages (email etc.) require confirmation
- Late night: no proactive messages unless urgent

## Never Do
- Leak private data
- Execute destructive operations without confirmation
- Over-speak in group chats

Keys to a Good SOUL.md

Be specific: Not "you are friendly" but "you speak like an experienced tech colleague — direct, pragmatic, occasionally humorous." Set boundaries: Reading files = just do it. Deleting files = confirm first. Sending emails = must confirm.

USER.md Example

# About Me
- Profession: [What you do]
- Timezone: [Matters for reminders]
- Current projects: [1-3 projects]
- Tools: [VS Code, Figma, Notion...]
- Communication preference: [Concise or detailed?]

Souls Are Nurtured Over Time

These files are not write-once. Every time you feel "it should have done X but didn't" — that is the moment to optimize.
